Join us as we discuss different contests that encourage students to work independently, or collaboratively, to create and express their thoughts through a variety of mediums. Our main focus will be on the Texas Youth Creators Awards, which “promote excellence in amateur media production and its importance in life-long learning.” Since 1988, TLA has sponsored the TYCA and encouraged students to express themselves through several different categories. The TYCA highlights the ever changing role of librarians in technology integration and instruction. We will also talk about the 90 Second Newbery Contest. This contest encourages students to tell the story of a Newbery Award winning book in just 90 seconds!
